SOUTHWICK — Powder Mill School fifth and sixth graders will remain away from their original classrooms for at least a few more weeks after the burst pipe in January flooded their hallways and caused moisture damage.
In a letter from the district to the school community last week, school administrators said that the restoration process would take longer than first estimated. The fifth and sixth graders were originally expected to return to their normal classrooms Feb. 28, after school vacation week.
While their sections of the schools are being remediated, the fifth grade students are having their classes in sections of Powder Mill School that were not affected by the burst pipe. Sixth grade students will continue using classroom space at Southwick Regional School.
