Heating company gifts new furnace to 91-year-old Cohoes woman

HVAC Expert November 5, 2021

It’s not always an easy day replacing heating and cooling systems, but this four to eight-hour job was a breeze.

“We are doing a full furnace swap out for the price of giving a 91-year-old woman warmth and comfort for the wintertime,” said Brian Correll with Grasshopper Heating & Cooling.

That 91-year-old is a Cohoes woman with dementia. Earlier this week, her daughter, Denise, reached out to the company after her mother’s furnace stopped working.

“Just kind of evaluating the system what was going on with it, why it wasn’t heating, and then we kind of went into what the options were,” said Nick Patrizio, leader of service operations.

He realized there was no saving the 31-year-old furnace.

“Then we kind of went through our whole process to try to find the best solution for her, and a new furnace just wasn’t in the budget,” said Patrizio.

So the team revisited their values.

Moving forward, that’s the only thing they wanted for Denise’s mother.

It’s something Denise says she can’t thank them enough for.

Denise also told NewsChannel 13 her mother’s 92nd birthday is in January, so this was almost like an early birthday gift, too!
