A man from West Kelowna thanks his lucky stars after installing a new stove and hot water tank for free.
Richard Solbakken got into tough times that winter when both his stove and water heater failed and he stayed in the cold for three months in the middle of winter.
Doug White and his wife Shelley knew Solbakken from previous businesses and when they heard of his plight they decided to work for him.
Enter Blair Husak from Blair Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning.
“He had no heat or hot water,” said Husak, explaining that they decided to give him a new stove and provide the labor to install the device free of charge.
“When our employees found out that he also needed a hot water tank, they got on too,” says Husak.
The employees from Blair Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning distributed the hat, paid for the new hot water tank and then offered their work free of charge. According to Husak, the total value of the donation and labor is approximately $ 6,000.
“I was just so impressed with the empathy these people have. It’s amazing,” says White.
Husak says they managed to get the job done, including repairing the water damage caused by the previously leaking hot water tank, and now Solbakken is back in business and “overwhelmed by the generosity”.
