Rhoads Energy reorganizes its HVAC business unit

HVAC Expert January 10, 2022

LANCASTER — The Rhoads Energy Family of Companies has launched a new business unit designed to pool resources and offer streamlined service for its HVAC customers in five counties including Berks, Chester, Montgomery, Lancaster and Lebanon.

Cool Crew is a new HVAC service group within Rhoads Energy. It brings together more than 50 technicians from across Rhoads’ affiliate companies, including Boyertown Oil & Propane, E.G. Smith Inc., Mack Energy and Reilly & Sons. The new unit centralizes operations, and according to the company, “creates a foundation for growth and expansion.”

“We have one of the largest, most highly trained teams of HVAC technicians in the entire state, but they were all wearing different uniforms,” Rhoads Energy CEO Michael DeBerdine said in a statement. “By creating Cool Crew, we clarify the scope of our operation and marshal all our resources under a single banner.”

Each Rhoads brand had operated its own distinct HVAC team — with separate uniforms, different trucks, and occasionally, different service offerings. That structure “sometimes created confusion for customers and unnecessary coordination and expense for the company,” the company said in an emailed response to questions.

Team members will wear Cool Crew uniforms and have trucks designated with the new brand. Cool Crew includes all of the HVAC technicians from all the brands, plus any new technicians hired to handle planned growth. The technicians will continue to work near their hometowns.

One change the company said it has made to help streamline service for customers is that Cool Crew technicians are being dispatched directly from their homes to their first job of the day, saving them from reporting to an office location first.

In addition to a single brand, another benefit to customers, according to DeBerdine, is that they now have access to expanded resources and more products, as well as access to better financing and better warranties due to the company’s partnership with top-tier manufacturers.

A new Cool Crew website has been created and existing customers will receive regular communications about the brand. Customers can still call their local office of their brand for service.  For more information, visit www.CoolCrew.com.

The Rhoads Energy Family of Companies offers heating oil, natural gas, and propane delivery; HVAC installation and service, and fleet fueling services. In 2017, the employee-owned company celebrated its 100th year of continuous service. The company serves central and southeastern Pennsylvania through Rhoads Energy and other brands including Boyertown Oil & Propane, E.G. Smith Inc., Mack Energy and Reilly & Sons.
