Petition Formed To Address HVAC Issue At Atlantic City School

HVAC Expert September 14, 2022

We have learned and confirmed about the creation of a petition to bring attention to a long-standing HVAC issue at Atlantic City’s Uptown School Complex.

The petition is available to sign on the website Change.org

Brittany Baxter has formed the petition which reads:

So many students and staff at Uptown School
Complex in Atlantic City are facing a serious HVAC
issue! For the past two years, multiple classrooms
at Uptown School Complex have had no air
conditioning and no source of cooling during the
hot summer months which has caused many
students heat related sickness and overall
discomfort. The principal and staff at Uptown
School Complex have repeatedly over several
years claimed it would be fixed but there has been
no solution! We have been told this solution has
been paid for and are just waiting on the HVAC
company to fix but this was over a year ago!
Students are being picked up early from school
due to nausea, headaches and overall discomfort
and are subsequently dripping in sweat. We have
offered to buy fans for the classrooms but all
requests have been denied. Please join us in
signing this petition to push this very important
issue to be fixed. The educational budget for this
year stated this issue would be fixed over the
summer and it has not!

There are currently 134 signers of the petition. Baxter has advised that they need 200 signatures for their petition to reach a status where it would likely be featured in what’s called Change.org “recommendations.”

John Devlin is a current member of the Atlantic City Board of Education and has served as a long-time past President of the Board.

Devlin shared his views on this subject:

“This is very disturbing news! I as a board member  have not been advised of this situation from the administration; however I have heard from numerous employees who have told me about their working conditions and less than desirable conditions for our children.”

“This is totally unacceptable, our children and tax payers deserve better. You would think with a budget of more than $ 200 million annually, that we wouldn’t have these kind of issues,” said Devlin.

Developing. Updates as warranted.
