A man was arrested Friday in Castaic for allegedly hitting his wife with an air conditioning unit and sending her 16-year-old son to the hospital when the teenager attempted to protect his mother.
Just before midnight Friday, deputies responded to a report of an assault call on the 27500 block of Violin Canyon Road in Castaic, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Upon arrival, deputies learned during a verbal argument, the suspect threw an air conditioning unit at his wife,” Arriaga said.
During the assault the victim’s 16-year-old son attempted to restrain the suspect to prevent further harm, Arriaga said.
However, the suspect then physically assaulted the teenager, Arriaga added.
“The female victim did not sustain injury and declined medical treatment,” Arriaga said.
The juvenile was transported to a local hospital to be evaluated further for injuries, added Arriaga.
The suspect was ultimately arrested for felony domestic violence and child endangerment, Arriaga said.
Hector Alvarez Rodriguez was booked into the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody as of Thursday afternoon.
