A manufacturer of water heaters and HVAC products plans to invest more than $20 million in its air conditioning headquarters in Northwest Arkansas, state and company officials announced.
Rheem said the project would add production capacity at its location in Fort Smith, establish a new training center, and make additional improvements to the facility and surrounding grounds. Officials said that the Innovation Learning Center would particularly enable contractors and distributors to work directly with Rheem products.
The company expects to add 100 jobs in both production and administrative roles.
Rheem, founded nearly a century ago, is a subsidiary of Japan’s Paloma. The company’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, water heaters, boilers, and refrigeration systems are marketed across more than 40 brands worldwide.
The Fort Smith site was established more than 50 years ago, and company officials said the expansion would help ensure that it remains a “world-class headquarters.”
Andrew Welch, the director of operations for Rheem’s air conditioning division, said the expansion enables future growth.
