“When we’re selecting apprentices for our program, we will look for character. We want an individual who cares about what they do, cares about our customers and wants to learn.” – Everett Hill, President of Palm Air AC

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in the HVAC sector will grow by 34% by 2029. From the statistics, it is evident that a career in the HVAC industry is in high demand. Unfortunately, as the need for qualified technicians grows, many employers nationwide cannot fill the number of open positions due to the lack of skilled labor.
Palm Air is one company that is always looking to hire skilled professionals. This workforce shortage inspired them to re-launch their Apprenticeship Program. The company believes that everyone has the potential to be the best at what they do; all it takes is a little dedication and the proper training. So if someone wants to enter the HVAC sector, this is a perfect opportunity.
“When we’re selecting apprentices for our program, we will look for character. We want an individual who cares about what they do, cares about our customers, and wants to learn.” – Everett Hill, Co-owner, Palm Air AC
The Palm Air Apprenticeship Program provides opportunities for new employees in the field to get hands-on training from seasoned professionals. In this program, candidates can acquire industry tips and techniques that aren’t taught in tech-school courses. Therefore, candidates can learn the ins and outs of the industry and the processes of Palm Air at the same time.
The Palm Air Apprenticeship Program has two main components.
Program A
- During the first 90 days, candidates are allotted 20-25 hours of part-time work as parts runners.
- Basic course work – Carrier University Courses
- Weekly training
Program B
- Opportunity to specialize as a maintenance technician or installation technician
- Candidates will be paired to work with our best technicians.
- Candidates will be enrolled in an 18-month online course.
- They will have the option to enroll in a 4-year program at the local community college, Palm Beach State.
Typically, apprentices start making approximately $15 per hour. Then, once the program has been completed and they’ve been placed, the compensation goes up to $18+ per hour within the first year.
“Once you’re established, have a little bit of time in and the knowledge, we’ll go ahead and put you in a maintenance truck or make you a permanent part of the installation team.” – David Jenkins, Co-owner, Palm Air AC
After completing the program, apprentices can reap the benefits of being a Palm Air Employee:
- Medical and dental insurance
- Industry-related training and education
- Growth opportunities
- Paid time off and holidays
- Voluntary and supplemental benefits
