Programming at some J.J. Parr facilities is suspended for the next several months as renovations continue at the site.
Starting this week, the gymnasium and a small portion of the existing weight room at the Colonel J.J. Parr Sports Centre will be closed for a minimum of three months as heating and ventilation renovations progress.
The next phase involving the pool will begin Feb. 12. With these closures, all community programming normally occurring within these areas will be suspended, for a minimum of six months, the air base stated in a press release.
Work on the project began in October.
“While these interruptions are unfortunate, we do appreciate your understanding of the necessity to improve the facility for our current and future users,” the release says.
“Every effort to keep the public informed of changes to programing or services that will impact access to the swimming pool will be communicated as soon as feasible, with a goal to minimize the impact where possible.”
All three phases of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning replacements are expected to last a year.
