The owner of two car repair service shops in Freeport pleaded guilty to reporting far more than $ 8 million in taxable gross sales on March 26.
Attorney Normal Letita James and Tax Commissioner Michael Schmidt said Luis Crespo – of Freeport, operator of Broadway Towing and Broadway Auto & Towing, Inc. – had been evading taxes for much more than a ten years.
In addition to tax evasion, Crespo also pleaded guilty to a minor theft. He has agreed to repay the condition additional than $ 900,000 in refunds, fascination and penalties, of which he has already paid $ 160,000.
