DALLAS – – Dallas ISD maintenance and facility staff were recognized today for their work in repairing schools after last month’s winter storm.
The district says the storm damaged about 130 schools and the students would not have been able to return without their hard work.
As a thank you, these employees will receive a gift card worth USD 300 to Cavender’s and two tickets for the SMU’s football opening game in the fall.
“It feels great to be honored, I’m not going to lie. But there were a lot of people you can’t see. The people who show up at 3am, 4am after that power outage and drive around town when It’s covered in snow, they are the real heroes, “said Miguel Soto, DISD’s heating and ventilation manager.
Approximately three dozen Dallas ISD maintenance and setup staff were recognized.
The Dallas Education Foundation says the gifts were given on Wednesday in partnership with Atmos Energy.
