Only one new residential home has been approved for a building permit in the last two months, displaying a slight slow down from the summer months.
According to the City of Powell’s monthly building reports, in October there was one request by a local builder for a custom new home valued at $475,000. No new homes were permitted in September, while there were four single family homes and two duplexes approved in July and August.
Powell building official Ben Hubbard said in September that the city had averaged building permits for two single family homes a month, although that can vary month-to-month.
Besides the house permit in October, the city also gave permits for HVAC systems for Powell middle and high schools, evaluated at more than $900,000 combined.
A permit was also issued for a mobile home setup lot in September.
There were a total of 23 permits issued in September and 33 in October, many being for fence or roof installation or replacement or HVAC work.
