One Marshalltown HVAC company will be bringing a local plumbing outlet into the fold this week as B&G HVAC has acquired Bjelland Plumbing Inc. in a merger of the two entities.
The move comes on the heels of Bjelland Plumbing owners Mark and Brent Bjelland stepping away from the family-owned small business after the past few years have made it more difficult to maintain the operation.
“Since COVID, it was really stressful. So that really took the wind out of our sails,” Brent Bjelland said. “It was sad to see the family business out of the family, but it’s been a relief. It’s been a big weight off.”
The pair of brothers have been operating the plumbing company for the past 17 years after buying it from their father, who started the enterprise in 1970.
“I’ve had a lot of people that were sad to see us go, but the company’s still going with the same guys,” Bjelland said. “We have a lot of loyal customers. (With) some of them, we were on our third generation. We worked for their grandparents, their parents and now they were getting out on their own, they were calling us.”
And, as Chad Gauthier, co-owner of B&G HVAC, conveyed, it will be business as usual for the now singular organization.
“They [will be] providing the same level of service that Bjelland Plumbing had before,” Gauthier said. “We’ve got a really good crew.”
All existing employees from Bjelland Plumbing will remain, simply moving to a new location and operating under a new company name.
