SKS, the SORG Group’s dedicated construction and service division, has officially started work on the complete rebuild of Weck Glas’ 60m2 regenerative end-fired furnace.
The furnace at its plant in Bonn-Duisdorf was completely drained last week ready for work to begin.
The goal is to reset the furnace’s lifetime by exchanging all refractory parts and completing extensive modifications and refinements to the existing steel structure.
Sorg said the furnace will be rebuilt with minimal downtime as it applies its construction expertise.
The planned date for cold acceptance and heating up of its rebuilt replacement is 23 December, 2022.
