HVAC Workers Win Class Status for Some California Wage Claims

HVAC service technicians who say their employer ran afoul of wage-and-hour laws may proceed as a class on some claims, but failed to show the need for group resolution of others, a federal judge in California said.

The minimum wage and rest break claims against Commercial Refrigeration Specialists Inc. and successor entity Climate Pros LLC aren’t suitable for class treatment, the US District Court for the Eastern District of California said. But the court certified on-call, wage statement, and terminated employee subclasses.
