With the arrival of a cold front, lakeshore area homeowners this week are switching from cooling to heating their homes.
Kory Klein, Service Manager for Smokey Barbier Heating in Manitowoc says that now is the right time to have your furnace system checked over.
“If you want to be proactive about things, you want to call before you have that catastrophic breakdown,” he said. “The best way to find out if you are going to have a breakdown is to have a furnace inspection, or a boiler looked at, while it’s still operating.”
During an appearance on “Welcome Home” with Brandon Bartow on 107.9 FM WOMT and 97.1 FM WCUB, Klein said he often hears the saying in our area, if it’s not broken, why fix it?
“How do you know as a homeowner that your furnace isn’t operating right?” he asked. “It takes a highly trained individual to be able to go through that piece of equipment, with highly specialized tools and training, to be able to find out what is happening with that piece of equipment, and to make sure it is working correctly.”
The local heating expert said that currently there’s no delay in getting equipment or parts for new residential furnaces.
However, it’s a whole different story on the commercial side.
Klein explained there was a 2-month delay in commercial rooftop units, and that was before Hurricane Ian struck Florida.
