Hardspace: Shipbreaker’s tools require repair if you want to keep scrapping ships. But where do you get a repair kit and how do you use it? Read on.
Yes, weapon degradation – or in this case, tool degradation – can be a contentious subject. But in Hardspace: Shipbreaker it does, at least, make sense that your laser cutter, grappler and so on need repair. You’re floating around in space, hurling objects into furnaces and, until you get the hand of it, getting smacked by debris every now and then.
That’s where the repair kits come in, fixing up your tools until they’re significantly less broken than they were. Here’s how to make use of these repair kits in Hardspace: Shipbreaker‘s Career Mode (Free Play mode won’t let you use repair kits).
- At the start of a shift, go to your Equipment terminal inside your Hab. You can enter your Hab mid-shift, but that’ll mean abandoning that shift’s work
- Interact with it (press X, or A on an Xbox controller)
- Go up to equipment and select that option.
- Move up or down to the equipment you want to repair and select repair (Y or triangle).
There you go. It’s best to check the status of your equipment before you leave your Hab. If you don’t have a repair kit, you can go to the terminal by your Hab (it’s on the left when you start, the one with Work Buy Profit on it) and buy one, so we’d recommend you grab a couple before you clock out.
Keep a repair kit handy as you play Hardspace: Shipbreaker and all you have to worry about is depressurisation, union-busters, flying debris…
