The cafeteria and main gymnasium at Fort Dodge Senior High are set to have air conditioning for the first time by the start of the next school year.
The Fort Dodge Community School District Board of Education approved a $2,239,000 bid from Kolacia Construction, of Fort Dodge, for the High School HVAC Upgrade Project on Monday night.
The project will cover the cafeteria area and the main gymnasium in the school, the two remaining areas in the building that have never had air conditioning, according to District Communications Director Jen Lane.
The project is scheduled to begin around May 31 and be completed by Aug. 12, in time for the 2022-2023 school year.
The school board received two other bids for the project. Jensen Builders Ltd. submitted a bid for $2,441,000, and Woodruff Construction submitted a bid for $2,411,077. Both contractors are from Fort Dodge.
